To celebrate United Nations’ International Year of Light 2015, Valtavalo, a Finnish manufacturer of LED tubes, has put together a video that summarises the many meanings of light to people.
Light, sometimes called the source of all life, is often taken for granted. The sun rises in the morning, and when the dusk sets in, lights can be turned on by pressing a switch. Very seldom do we really stop and think about the many ways in which light features in our daily life.
This was the idea behind the recently released video “Light and Us”, says CEO Markku Laatikainen from Valtavalo.
Valtavalo wanted to make a video to remind us all of the many roles of light. The video is now more topical than ever, since 2015 is the United Nations’ official Year of Light.”
Valtavalo is participating in Valon Juhla (Party of Light) to be held in Kajaani on 9 January.
The United Nations’ International Year of Light will be celebrated in Kajaani with Valon Juhla, which recounts the story of light and its meanings, development and the different uses of light. For one night, the Kajaani town centre will become the stage for a magnificent light show.
An essential part of the event is a light fixture design competition organised by Valtavalo. Lamps designed by students from Kainuu Vocational College will be displayed in selected shops in Kajaani town centre for one week between 9 and 16 January. The best lamp will receive an award.
